I love peace and like to be happy.
Jamaican-born (moved here when I was
7), have traveled. Love
being good to myself, other people,
beings and the planet. Ethical. I
ride my bicycle (and drive an EV). Love to garden, bake bread &
would ultimately like to live off the
land (but not isolated :).
I used to help produce electric vehicles to replace the gasoline vehicles we use to move about. Now I live in a sustainable intentional community house in Berkeley, CA with 14 other people, and this last year has been the best it’s ever been here! It feels good. I enhanced our solar electric and solar thermal system by replacing the natural gas in winter with a heat pump. Now no more fossil fuels here!
I’m also open to living with a partner here or near to others.
I love going deep - often use the term "understanding" - it's helpful as a concept and when applied.
Philosophical.
Into seeing the other person(s)' points of view.
I'm very concerned about the climate change &
human activities, but not a worry-wart.
Concerned and seeking to reverse the damage and heal the planet. Hence, not into driving fossil-fueled vehicles in order to appreciate nature because of all the negatives to nature involved. (It feels too contrary for me to do willingly). I am researching redwood forest ecosystem restoration.
I'm pretty dedicated when it comes to ethics and appreciate being held accountable and critiqued. I find it quite healthy :)
I'm big on seeing what people call "problems" in the world as opportunities.
I want to be more humble, deeply humble...I practice what I think may deepen that feeling within me.
I want to be a lot more accepting of every person.
I eat nutritious local foods. Mostly California rice & lentils, and a variety of greens fruit from the farmers market and my back yard.
If you dig any of this, I invite you to reach out and let me know.
To our peace of mind!
Ollie
Describe the type of person you'd like to meet:
Courageous, sincere, truthful, don't mind (or love) going deep (as opposed to staying on the surface and comfortable. Comfort is sometimes necessary. I believe that everyone is courageous in their own way - we don't know the challenges that others face every waking moment.
That said, more and more I'm feeling like the courage to overcome challenges is one of the most important of attitudes or disciplines. Therefore I prefer sharing company with people who seek to be aware of and resolve issues rather than avoid them.
I tend to be impressed with women who
are strong-minded and strong-bodied. I
really like the Rosie the Riveter
posters :)
Have no problem holding yourself accountable - are a very responsible individual.
Optimistic, capable, believe in the possible, "can" world, not the "can't".
I would love to experience in one a good lover and a friend :).
What do you like to do for fun/activities?
My favorite thing to do right now is explore local creeks & watersheds! Sharing this activity excites me :)!
I love easily riding my bicycle through different neighborhoods and landscapes...and imagining what was there before, and what sustainably could come after...
Rugby, intentional communities, homesteading, permaculture, country living, wise city living, living lightly on the
land/environment. Living life in a well-integrated way.
Stephen Colbert!
Playing piano, guitar (& clarinet), drawing, talking deeply about life, joking :)
I'm very selective about movie-watching - prefer enriching documentaries or paying good attention to real life.
