Ask Dr. Joel is for members to ask questions and express their feelings/opinions
about their journey as a conscious single. The intent of our website
is to support via information, interaction and community. This particular
page will address the very specific issues related to being a single
person intent on becoming non-single. Apparently easy for some, not
so for others.
I really want to offer help to those others who find this journey
difficult at least at times. And I want to create a venue where we
can connect and support each other too.
I began this section early in the inception of Conscious Singles with
an answer to an assumed question on "What is the common difficulties
facing singles?" This piece on the "Zen
of Being Single" generated a couple of responses about the
notion of "basket theory"; which suggests the need to have
numerous "playfriends", a good search strategy. There was
also a compelling note I got from a member regarding the issue of
age and appearance in searching. Actually, I have received several
e-mails from women in thier late 40's, 50's and on expressing their
frustration and at times hopelessness that other men would be interested
in meeting women their age. What do ya'll think?
I have recently re-edited this first piece, where among other small
changes I discussed the notion that we single folks can't always trust
our feelings. This is a topic which I want to continue to write and
dialogue about. Also, I have added a companion to the "Zen
of Being Single" with a piece about the "Three
Faces of Longing."
The newest article is on the Healing Potential
of Being Single or What's perfect about being single?
Hope you like these writings and please let
me know what you think.
