The Big PC and our new Prayer Page:
Or the big psychic container that is me
Joel Rachelson, Ph.D.
One of the big
things I have been pondering lately is the contradictions and
dualities in my moment to moment states of consciousness.
I have been
feeling/thinking/experiencing wildly contrasting and paradoxical
states of consciousness or
psychic websites, to follow the previous updates metaphor. I have
been seriously joyful and excited about my ongoing "love affair with
G-d." And I have been very very saddened and angry about my nephew in
laws recent life battle with brain cancer.
Butch is a
wonderful being and for him to be in this battle at this time in his
life sucks big time. (Later in this piece I want to introduce the idea
of a community prayer page.) In addition to these two states of
consciousness or psychic website, I have also been jumping between
relief and hope and fear and puzzlement about Conscious Singles as
well.
There is
something important here that is inherent in the conception of being a
Conscious Website Finder. In the last update, I talked about the
notion that being conscious means that I sit in the seats of myself,
and from this perspective I recognize that I am on a psychic website.
What I then realize is that I can stay on this website or move to
another one. That I can, if I choose, deliberately and with
intentionality click on another one.
What is inherent
in this is that I must then be an amalgam of psychic websites and that
there must be such a thing as a container for them.
The first of the
dualities that I want to point out is that I then must be both the
container for the psychic websites or states of consciousness and the
individual states of consciousness themselves. That there must be a
big psychic container which holds all the myriad psychic website that
is me.
Technically
speaking, and I think I read this in a Deepak book (and Conversations
talks about this), we are a trilogy. We are the observer, the contents
of the observer, and the both.
The second
duality in this point is that these various states of consciousness or
psychic websites can and do run the complete gamut of my being. And my
being can contain them-sometimes simultaneously. Dr Rudy points out
that we are an union of opposites. One aim of the Alchemy of
Opposites, which Dr Rudy writes about, is the integration, not denial,
of these varied aspects of ourselves.
The moral of
this meandering is that I am a container for a vast array of psychic
websites that can be consciously clicked on and that more than one can
be foreground simultaneously. (In fact, it is rare that one exists
purely in the foreground.)
So, until I
become an avatar, my psychic website is more often a blend or its
foregroundness rarely stays foreground.
This means that
the website I am on, or state of consciousness I am in, is almost
always interrupted by another. This interruption can happen in
nanoseconds.
This is one the
goals of a meditative practice is to get some better at being able to
not interrupt ourselves. This is usually done by first noticing that
we have had an interruption and then clicking back on the website we
were aiming for before we interrupted ourselves.
All this by way
of elucidating my experience of being joyfully in love with god while
also being present with being very bummed. That it seemed difficult
that I can have very different psychic moments in the flow of my
conscious awareness. Yet, difficult though this may be, it simply is.
If there is a
task here in this regard it may be nothing more than being conscious.
Or as Deepak says, in How to Know God, to pay attention. "Since the
journey to the soul happens only in awareness, if you block out
awareness you impede your progress; if you pay attention you build up
momentum. (p.291)"
Probably, the
other task for me is to make sure that I pay attention and then I feel
what I need to feel when I am where I am.
So, how about
let's starting a prayer page where we can put names of folks (yourself
included) that the community focuses on in a loving way and sends
healing light to. I, for one, believe in the positive effects of
prayer and how one's healing state of consciousness or intention can
in fact transcend our psychic (or ego bound) container and effect
someone far away.
This maybe a
topic for a future update/meandering.
Please submit a
name of someone you would like on the prayer list and I will post it.
If you have suggestions for prayers and concentrations that you think
would help on this page, I would love to hear from you. And please
come by fairly often and send healing light and love to those on the
list.
