Founded in 1974, Charis: books & more is the oldest feminist bookstore in the Southeast. As a feminist bookstore we always strive to have books that change your life and the world, we hope to inspire new, diverse and cutting edge writing, and want to guarantee the availability of books by feminists, lesbians and women of color. We value books as cultural and intellectual expressions, not merely commodities

Charis has community programs (almost) every Thursday night. We also have an all-women's open mic night, books groups, a women's sexuality series and other special events. All our programming is sponsored by the non-profit Charis Circle.
